That's the most important thing. Hurricane Irene came and went, left some damage behind, but boy are we glad she is gone.
We spent Saturday at my moms house hanging out with family. My aunt came up to my moms place to get away from the storm since she lived down the shore so the family was all together. We ate good food that my mom cooked (LOVE her cooking) and then we got a projector, a white blanket, some tape... and managed to create a theater down in my mom's basement. Throw in some beer and wine and a good time was had by all! Then around 2 in the morning, we decided to go home before the storm got worse. We only live a block away from my moms house, but the minute we got outside, the winds were whipping! I was exhausted so when we got to our house, we went straight to bed. Our bed is next to a window. The hubs mentions that if the window does bust, it's going to shatter all over his side since he sleeps closest to it. I immediately burrowed myself into his arms and was completely freaked out hearing the rain slam against our windows and the wind whistling and whipping. The hubs fell straight to sleep. It took me about an hour to finally go to sleep which I think was only because of sheer exhaustion. We woke up the next morning to a beautiful morning. The weather was incredible. You wouldn't even think that a hurricane just came through. We made sure all our loved ones were safe and enjoyed a full day of fun and laughter with friends who also lived by us.
We were walking around town and saw some major flooding in our area. These pics I took with my phone when we were walking around.
This is the playground in the park. The whole park was under!
This is at the end of my mom's street. Thankfully my mom lives on top of the hill.
This is the same park again. The bridge is a foot bride! Crazy flooding.
I pray for all those families who have been affected by this storm.
