Hope you all had a wonderful weekend! My bestie is home visiting from Chicago so they were over on Saturday with my nephew who has just turned 1! I made dinner and we got to pop open up the bottle of organic tequila we brought back from Mexico!
That tequila goes down so smooth! We also bought a bottle of pina colada flavored tequila too which we cracked open as well!
Needless to say, we were nice and warm after a couple of shots of both tequilas!
But the worst thing that happened on Saturday was that my blender broke, in the middle of pina colada making. My heart sank! I have no idea how this KitchenAid blender broke this way:
I still can't understand how on earth it broke like that. But let me tell you, I was able to salvage the pina colada so that's a plus. I just added some more rum to it, because you know... I can.
Somewhere during Saturday when I was running around trying to get dinner ready, I hurt my back. My lord is it painful. I think it may be the sciatic nerve but I am not sure. So I spent Sunday trying not to move around so much and the pain has subsided a bit. We will see what happens today while at work. I am praying the pain isn't as bad because I couldn't even bend over to pick stuff up it hurt so bad.
So, who would like to buy me a new blender and give me the miracle cure for back pain? Don't all jump at once!
And the BEST part of Sunday was that Dirty Dancing was on TV. Thank goodness for my sister who texted me in the morning letting me know.
I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! We had a good time celebrating with family and friends.
I am at work today and the glorious thing about it is that I do not have to deal with any traffic at all. If only it was like that everyday! But another good thing about coming to work is that it's super quiet which means I can get a lot of work done with minimal interruptions. Someone told me why even bother going in if it's not going to be busy... well, first off I am a contract worker so the days I don't come in I don't get paid for them. And with the early closing on Tuesday and being off yesterday, I don't need to be taking any more time off. Then they said so you are going to sit there and be bored since it won't be busy just to get paid. No, it's called work ethic. I don't know about you lady but when I come to work it's to prove to my team that I'm worth their interest in me. There is always work and my job is to reach out my team and let them know if I need some more. That way they trust me with more responsibilities and I can continue to be a rock star of an employee (my team member dubbed that title for me which I am so honored by). Nothing gets me more in a tizzy than ignorant people. Let me worry about my job and you worry about yours. Not like we do the same job anyways. This is what I encountered at work this morning.
So I'm here to say that I am so grateful I have a job. Around this time last year, I was going through unemployment and it's not fun. I knew that starting this contract position that it was a 6 month temporary position, but I took it anyway because it seemed right. I'm glad I did because I have been lucky enough to have my contract extended for another 6 months. Praise the Lord! But I know that my contract might not be extended again. So I told myself in the beginning I'm going to work my ass off and prove to them that I am a dam good worker. I'm not here just to collect a paycheck, I am here to gain knowledge and soak up as much of it as I can. Because what I learn here today may help me in my future. It's simple. It's fact. So I always go above and beyond my job scope to be remembered. Key word there is to be remembered. When you are remembered and stand out showing that you can handle things well, people will talk about you. When people talk about you to other team members they will remember you, especially when a job opportunity comes up elsewhere in the company. That has happened for me and let me tell you, I was flabbergasted when I heard that someone thought I was fantastic at what I do and recommended me to someone about a potential opportunity. I stood out from the rest of them. All because I did what I am suppose to do and MORE. It's early in this stage so I have no idea if this opportunity will be a good fit, but I know I already won because I am remembered. That right there tells me I am doing something right working with my team. I am so grateful that people speak highly of me.
That thought alone was an awesome Christmas gift I could have received this year.
I hope you guys all had a great weekend. I sure did. We had our annual Friendsmas party yesterday, which I showed up half hour early all while thinking we were late. Yeah, that was funny. But because of showing up early, bestie immediately handed me a glass of Riesling. Winning!
Any who, I will talk about the party more tomorrow but I just wanted to pop in and see if y'all can send me good vibes today. I got some things going on that I can use some prayers for.
Super appreciate the prayres and let's hope that today rolls into something good hopefully!!!!!
I've been in a blog rut for a while. It sucks when you want to write, but the words don't reach your fingers from your brain.
But I wanted to touch upon some things that have been in the news.
First of all, do you all remember the epic split commercial fro Volvo with Jean-Claude Van Damme? If not, see below:
Awesome sauce right? Well, Chuck Norris and Lockheed decided to one up that one and showcased this commercial:
I couldn't stop laughing! How hilarious is that?
Also, did you know that Brad Pitt is 50 years old?!?!?! That man has some fantastic genes.
Oh and about that whole Duck Dynasty crap, who cares what the guy BELIEVES in. He is allowed to share his opinion. I don't know why people are getting so mad because let's face it, no one in this world will ever agree with what we want to do our life. Just because he is a "celebrity" doesn't excuse him from not voicing his own opinions.
Christmas is literally around the corner... so I hope you're all ready. I just have to wrap up my niece and nephews presents and that's it!!! We only buy gifts for them for Christmas which makes it WONDERFUL and stress free. And that's when we get to really spoil them which is always fun as well.
Y'all have a good weekend.... I'll be at our friend's annual Christmas dinner on Sunday so I can't wait to spend some time with my loves with good food and laughter.
I hope you are all warm because it was a cold and snowy weekend here in NJ.
Saturday the snow started in the morning and didn't stop until overnight... which then changed over to sleet.
But the snow storm didn't stop us from meeting up with Nikki and Mr. Big Truck and sis-in-crime for some good food. We braved the storm and I am so glad we didn't because we had so much. Also,we ate at Stage House Tavern and the food was delish!!!!
By the time we got home, the roads weren't so great and everything was covered in snow. When I woke up Sunday morning, the snow was covered with a layer of ice. I was out walking the dog in the cold but couldn't get over how beautiful it all looked. I took the opporutnity to grab my camera and walk around in the ice and cold to take some pictures.
Guys, I have been WORKING HARD as it is super duper busy at work. I am surprised I can come up for air to breathe. To top if off, it took me an hour to get home on Wednesday from work and yesterday it took me an hour and half becuase of traffic due to accidents. Not pleasant at all, but I am grateful for a job and I am learning a lot from my team members, which are awesome, and getting even more responbilities. Guess showing them I can handle my own and asking for more really does pay off becuase in the end, I know it will help in the future. But that doesn't mean I don't get to complain of how much work is kicking my ass. Ha!
Wednesday I was my mom's hot date for our work holiday party. It was at Westmount Country Club, which my senior prom was held there in 2001... holy crap time flies by, and the food was delish and the open bar was even MORE delish. Hello white wine that I had way too much of Wednesday night. You were fantastic in softening the blow of such a stressful day.
I came home a bit typsy and let me tell you, I was in my apt laughing and giggling.... by myself. Just me and the dog... which means = selfie time! We were sending selfie pictures to the hubs who was out on call working.
Tomorrow we are suppose to be getting some snow so let's see if the weatherman is telling the truth this time. If he is, we are going to get slammed with about 3-6 inches of snow. I am just happy it is happening on the weekend and not during work week. I can stay home and enjoy the view this time around and not slip and slide all over with my car attempting to get to work.
And tonight, my God daughter turns 5. HOLY CRAP I FEEL OLD. Can't wait to squeeze her so tight tonight at her little birthday celebration.
But seriously, I feel like she was born yesterday. Cray cray.
OK, off to start a super busy day at work... hope I make it out alive.
Y'all, I was excited to learn that I was getting something from Influenster to try out!
Then when they told me what it was, I was all like "Are they saying that I'm OLD?!?!?!?!?!?"... cue freak out moment. I said that because they sent me Meaningful Beauty's Creme de Serum by Cindy Crawford. This is classified as an anti-aging cream. I was all like, I am not OLD Influenster, I'm only 30 and can't believe you are sending me ant-AGING cream.
But then I tried it and fell in love and read up online that you should really start using the anti-aging stuff now to prevent it from even happening. So, I owe a sorry to Influenster, I realize you are not telling me I'm old and that you just want me to keep my beautiful face wrinkle free. I get it.
But seriously, this stuff is amazing. It goes on smooth and is perfect underneath makeup. It doesn't make my face oily at all. And the biggest win for me is that it doesn't flair up my rosacea. Hallelujah Jesus!
I actually think I may go buy this to add to my daily routine. Totally worth it.
Let me tell you guys of how a crazy day I had yesterday.
First, let's start with the snow we got hit with yesterday. Now I love a good snowfall because it looks so pretty, but having to commute to work in that is not so pretty.
But you bet your ass I took a selfie while standing outside in the snow right before I had to spend 10 minutes cleaning off my car.
That smile was quickly gone as I started my journey to get to work. Traffic everywhere and our roads weren't even clean yet since the storm just started. I should have known it was going to be a long drive when I wasn't even able to drive down the street without sliding a bit. I work in a town where it is hills everywhere. My fear has been driving to work in a snowstorm because there are two big hills I have to go up to get work. I made it up the first hill fine but the second one was lined with cars. We were doing the stop and go up the hill which was not easy for all of the cars. Somehow I made it up the second hill and was relieved to finally get to work after driving for 45 minutes for a ride that is usually 30 minutes. Not fun.
Then work was absolutely insane yesterday from the minute I got in. This is our real busy time and I work with the email team so there is a lot going on. It seemed like we were having fire drills every 15 minutes and when we would figure out a game plan, it would change by the time I would walk back to my desk. Craziness. I had a really long day and haven't had a crazy day like that in a long time and I know that more days like are ahead of me. I just have to remember to do my best and not stress out too much. Easier said than done, I know!
When I finally left work I was dreading cleaning off my car again for all the snow that accumulated. As I am walking to my car I see that there really is no snow on my car. Woohoo was my instant reaction. As I get closer to the car it seems like my car is just wet. NEGATIVE. My car was covered in ICE! So I proceed to unlock my car and try to open the door. NOTHING. MY DOOR IS FROZEN SHUT!!! I then try to open the back door, nothing. I try all the other doors and they won't open. Now I am standing there in the freezing cold thinking "What the hell am I going to do now?!?!?" I put my bags down and started pulling my door handle while resting my body against the car next to try to pry the door open. I am sure people saw me looking like a total idiot but I had to get my door open somehow. NOTHING... still frozen shut. This is when a remote starter would have been handy, but you guessed it, I don't have one of those. So I continue to pull onto my handle until finally it gives and OPENS. Then I had to still stand outside and scrape the layer of ice off.
After sitting in traffic I was so glad to get home.
I had to try so hard to not open up a bottle of wine.
I can't wait till this holiday season is over so work can get back to normal!
For today, I leave you with this video of when I came upon spirit finger gloves at Target.
I immediately asked the hubs to take a video and he said no. So of course I said fine and proceeded to take my phone out of my bag to take a video of it myself while GIGGLING in the middle of the aisle while hubs looked on super embarrassed. THAT'S WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU SAY NO BABE, IT WILL BE MUCH WORSE.
Our cruise vacation was fantastic. We were on the Royal Caribbean Oasis of the Seas and let me tell it was HUGE (that's what she said). There were 6,200 people on board celebrating the Thanksgiving holiday! There was so much to do on this ship including the aqua show with divers and synchronized swimmers, the ice skating show, comedy club show, Hairspray Broadway show, Acrobatic show and much much more. We laid by the pool and took naps while letting the sun soak in. I got to dig my toes in sand in Labadee, Haiti. We even got to dress up for two nights and take pictures as if we were in high school prom.
How awesome is the picture of the ship! I love that I was able to snap this pic walking back. Sis-in-crime shopped till she dropped! And the best part of vacation - toes in sand with drink in hand!
That beach picture is from Cozumel, Mexico where we also had the BEST ceviche ever! We also got to see some ruins and hello pina coladas that made me tipsy! And the show me your boobs sign was legit, and no I am not saying that because I showed them my boobs, but because they whipped out a book of boob pictures from past tourists who gladly showed them their boobs to get a free beer. Needless to say the boys were giggling while looking through the book.
And I LOVE that we get to dress up on formal nights. Best time to take some awesome pictures and walk around feeling like celebrities!
I know I promised vacation pics, but that means I have to go through all 230 of them and choose them and do all the blog stuff we have to do with the pics before I even post... so that looks like it will be a project for this weekend. But I do want to talk about something that happens the day after Thanksgiving and I am not talking about the psychos who go shopping for deals and end up punching people in the face. I am talking about all the little annoying things people do that drive you bonkers because it's not just one friend doing it, it's all your FB, Twitter, Blogger and Instragram friends who are doing it.
Taking pictures of their red Starbucks cup. NOBODY CARES. It's just a cup that happens to be the color red. It's not made out of gold people. Put the cup down.
People who complain that stores shouldn't be opening earlier for Black Friday and that it is such a shame, but on Black Friday they post their shopping bags and how they got an awesome deal. Because of YOU they keep opening up earlier! ugh.
Christmas tree pictures. I get it, it's an exciting thing. But after I see my 10th Christmas tree picture I want to throw up. But then when you get to the 30th picture, then you realize how some people think their tree is oh so pretty but it looks like Christmas threw up all over it.
The super duper creepy Elf of the Shelf. I understand that it is a "learning" tool for kids, but that shit is so effin creepy that I wouldn't want my child to think that their is some doll in the house that does things on its "own". I swear that Elf of the Shelf thing is going to stab someone in the middle of the night, BECAUSE IT'S CREEPY.
