Love and Hate

I am sitting here with just a heavy heart.  There have been so many hateful things go on in this world.  Tragedies seem to be the norm lately.  How is that possible is beyond me.  But here we are in what we were told as little kids, the future filled with all these promises of technology advancements and a better world, but as I sit here today I feel like I live in a world filled with more hate than when I was a little kid.

I try not to watch the news anymore because it is seriously depressing.  We can't even believe anything that news reporters say anymore because most of the time, they will skew things just so they can get an edge because ultimately, it means their career will get a boost.

Since when did doing hateful things which hurt other people become something that makes them famous? Why do reporters dwell and dig and dig and dig in news days after a tragedy. Why can't we leave families alone and not remind them of horrible events three, four days later.  Why do we feel the need to have news reporters stuff their cameras in grieving friends and family.  Why do WE feel the need to know what those people are thinking?  I wish when a tragedy happened, more people will focus on praying and supporting and respecting people's privacy, than to exploit human emotions.

Love. Why is that so hard for some people to do and share?  If we all showed just a little bit of love to someone in need, we may be surprised how that can change them.  Just a little bit COUNTS.  I wish I can give some of my love to every single person in this world who is hurting in hopes that maybe, just maybe they don't feel alone.  We need to reach out to people more often, our friends and family, and we need to let them know that we are here for them.  You may think you know what a friend/family member is going through, but we truly don't know.  I know for a fact that there have been many times where I was going through a really hard time and wouldn't share with anyone, even my best friend and even my sister.  To this day, there have been things that no one knows but just me.  Sometimes, I wish if there was that reach out to me, I would have shared and probably have dealt with my issues better.  So since I feel the need for this, I am trying to do that to other people.

So, who will you share your love with today?

Well I jus hope you know that the truth is that misery loves company. It is a toxic world that we live in today. Look at how people choose to nourish themselves and the people they "love"...for the most part convenience overpowers love and care behind knowing what your loved one is ingesting. So if you don't even care for your basic needs how are you going to expand that further into the neighbors that surround you much less the world we are a part of.
I love that you wrote this, it speaks so many real truths that people need to open their eyes to. We don't live in an ideal 1st world country, we live in a place that happens to make lots of money but still hosts a terrible majority of lazy ignorant people who have little compassion and tolerance of their fellow man. Let us begin with the basics, engage your children to open their minds to loving themselves the way they are, to say that different is just that, it's neither bad nor good. That the love we bring inside is the love that can change the world. And soon we can finally be the place everyone looks up to and wants to be a part of, not an illusion created by media and hearsay.

Preach on my sista!

There will always be dark days... we just can't let them outweigh the good things in life. There will always be good, there will always be evil.

There is good in life, however the news seems to only report the bad in the world. If they would concentrate on the other, I think people would be a bit happier. Great post!

I wish that instead of always reporting the negative that the news would report positive stories. Like you I try not to watch it either, it's incredibly depressing.

I never watch the news or read up on the tradegy online. It is depressing and I refuse to live my life in fear. I think society as a whole, is intrigued and thrives for the drama and then it gets sensaulized and so forth and so forth.

There will always be evil people, but with the media, the access the web gives us to informaiton, it appears there are more and more of them than ever before.

The news is so depressing! I think everything is going down hill lately especially TV shows. I was just talking to my future father-in-law about that yesterday. There are very few shows with good morals on anymore. It's really sad. Sorry that's my little soap-box stand!
